SMSF Adviser in partnership with Accountants Daily is delighted to introduce the inaugural SMSF and Accounting Awards, the first nationwide industry awards program for state-based performance - recognising excellence in the SMSF advice and accounting professions.

These awards acknowledge individuals and businesses who are making their mark in SMSF and accounting advice by championing professionalism, quality advice and innovation.

The awards will be hosted as a five-star dinner in the five major states, with good humour, networking and of course acknowledging and celebrating the top performers who may not always get the recognition at a national level.

This award is open to:

  • All auditors operating in their respective state for the period from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016. This is inclusive of SMSF auditors. Auditors must have held valid registration and authorisations necessary for their field in the 2016 calendar year.

    A successful bookkeeper in the contemporary accounting environment is one who responds to market challenges with innovation, and continues to prove the benefits of bookkeepers from a bottom line and growth perspective.

    This award recognises an outstanding Australian bookkeeper who effectively drove revenue growth and shaped their firm's success in the 2016 calendar year.

    It considers the activities, strategies and actions of the bookkeeper in terms of benefitting their firm and promoting the value of the bookkeeping profession in general.

    This award is open to:

  • All bookkeepers and is based on the period from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016.

    This award recognises the most outstanding young advice professional who demonstrated an exemplary commitment to success in their SMSF and/or accounting-based career in the 2016 calendar year.

    It considers the activities, strategies and actions of the professional in terms of positioning themselves for future success and growth in the industry.

    This award is open to:

  • All SMSF professionals and/or accountants who entered the industry on, or after, 1 January 2015 and who have been providing advice to clients for two years or less
  • Undergraduate students who are undertaking paid part time work with a firm.
  • And considers the activities between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2016.
