Welcome to the Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards for 2019

It is my pleasure to announce the NSW Health 2019 Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards where we acknowledge the contribution and dedication of our nurses and midwives across the state.

These awards have become an integral part in the state-wide nursing and midwifery calendar culminating in an awards ceremony where finalists and winners come together to celebrate their achievements with family, friends and colleagues.

This is also a wonderful opportunity to recognise nurses and midwives for their excellence in practice and for the significant contribution that they make to their professions, their teams and the community.

There are some changes to the nomination categories this year with the addition of a new category, The Excellence in Nursing or Midwifery Management Award. This award recognises the outstanding contribution of nurses and midwives in a management role within the healthcare system. We encourage nominations in this category to include clinical and executive nursing and midwifery managers who have had an extraordinary impact on their organisation through their outstanding management, leadership and forward thinking.

As in previous years the Consumer Appreciation Award is open to nomination from members of the public who wish to acknowledge and recognise the nurses and midwives who have demonstrated outstanding patient care and those who have worked in collaborative partnerships to achieve outcomes and support to families and carers.

Please consider nominating a nurse, midwife, clinical leader or manager who you feel deserves to be recognised for their service and dedication to their profession. For your nomination to stand out against the many others we receive, your testimonial story must include clear examples of how your nominee has demonstrated outstanding character and is a deserving recipient for the honour or award.
