Welcome to the 2020/21 NECA Western Australia Excellence Awards

The Awards are open to NECA members and spread across thirteen categories, which are initially judged at the state level. Each state hosts its own awards functions throughout August and September and the winners of the state-based awards are announced at the local events.

State winners then progress to the National Excellence Awards. Winners only will be eligible to enter in the category in which they won the State Award and will be judged against other winners from across Australia.

The national finalists and winners will be announced at the pinnacle showcase of the electrotechnology industry at the NECA National Excellence Awards on 18 November 2021 in Canberra.

Winning an award provides great marketing opportunities and recognition as an industry leader.

4 easy steps to submit your entry into the 2020/21 NECA Excellence Awards

1. Create your very own 'User Log-In' account.
   Note: Please create a new account for this year’s awards. Accounts created from previous years are closed.
2. Choose your state
3. Nominate your project
4. Submit your entry

Note: All entries must be completed on-line and comprise four sections:

• Section 1 - Company and project profile.
• Section 2 - Multiple choice questions and answers (drop down boxes).
• Section 3 - Series of open questions (max 300 word answers).
• Section 4 - Upload 1 PDF document containing photos with description of what photos represent and client references.

Closing Dates for Submissions

Please contact your state chapter office for the closing date of applications.

•  Entrants must be current NECA contractor members at the time of entry and throughout the award process
• At the time of submission, the project needs to be beyond practical completion stage.
• All entries must be completed online. All questions must be completed for an entry to be valid.
• Entrants must adhere to the criteria of the Awards Category being entered
• Projects may be entered into more than one Category however, each entry must reflect the specific criteria of the Category, supported by visual evidence specific to that Category
• Entrants must obtain client permission to submit a project. This includes obtaining written permission from the client to use photographs in the entry and gain site access for the purposes of judging where required
• By entering a project, you give NECA permission to use project details and photographs on the NECA website, promotional material, social media and media
• Entrants must clearly identify in their entry any connection either the project or the entrant (or its Company) has with a NECA board representative

The judging panel is comprised of a Chairperson and experienced electrical industry representatives, as selected, or appointed by the individual NECA Chapter for State/ Territory judging, and by NECA National for National judging. The National Chairperson’s role is to be an independent judge and may assist other judges with disputes or assessment queries.

Judging for State/Territory Awards shall be subject to the same categories, criteria and weightings as for the National Awards.

Note:

• No changes between the original State/Territory entry and the National entry will be accepted.
• The winning state entry will be entered in the same category in which they won the State/Territory Award for the National Awards. National judging is done solely on the on-line submission.
• Winners of a State/Territory Award will automatically be entered in the National Awards unless the entrant expressly advises (via email) to their State/Territory Chapter office, that they do not wish to be entered and judged for a National Award.
• Site visits and/or presentations (as and if required) will be at State level only and will be determined by the State Chapter office.

Information collected by the National Electrical and Communications Association is protected by the Privacy Act 1988 and NECA's privacy Policy.  Information collected from the submissions is for the purpose of obtaining details to assist NECA in the award judging process and Awards multimedia presentation material and will not be disclosed to a third party, except where prior written permission is obtained from the individual who supplied the information and to whom the information related.NECA will not retain personal information that is sensitive information.  Please contact NECA if you wish to access or correct personal information collected or if you have any queries in regard to information handling procedures.

When completing the questions on-line, you should give consideration to the entrant guidelines/criteria, which can be found HERE. 

The judging criteria is a guide only and you should only address the points that are relevant to your project.

IMPORTANT NOTES

1. Please respond to each of the criteria as briefly and succinctly as possible, bullet points and/or short paragraphs are preferable. 
2. Please do not upload individual photos to the on-line system.  All photos related to a project should be uploaded as a PDF document, with numbered thumbnails of each photo and a brief description of what the photo is representing along with any references (ie as one pdf file for the judging).
3. Please provide between a minimum of 15 and maximum of 25 individual photographs via drop box link to your State Chapter office (for video clips used in the presentation material).
